At the beginning of the year, I had big plans for my planner. Color-coded tabs, detailed routines, multiple insert types layered into a perfectly curated system. And while it looked beautiful, it didn’t quite work for me.
Somewhere along the way, I realized that trying to do the most with my planner often led to me not planning at all. I'd get overwhelmed by the upkeep, the decisions, the perfectionism of it all. Eventually, I’d stop using my system altogether. Things would slip through the cracks, and I’d start feeling that all-too-familiar sense of chaos creeping in.
So as I step into the second half of the year, I’m choosing ease.
Right now, my setup includes just three inserts:
– Vertical Weekly Overview for a simple, big-picture glance at my week
– Graph Notes for quick lists, mind mapping, or journaling
– Meeting Notes for keeping work and ideas organized
That’s it. No pressure to do more. Just the space I need to stay grounded and present.
Planning doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. In fact, the more I let go of what I think my planner should look like, the more it actually supports me. This version of my system feels clear, calm, and sustainable. And that’s exactly what I need right now.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by your planner or like you’ve fallen off track, I hope this gives you permission to start fresh with something simpler. Sometimes, less really is more.
